When I looked at users listed in the user list, compared to the users listed in the wp_users file, I had an extra admin person listed. So he is gone now, and so is the extra code written there as well. Yippee!!! I have been dewormed.... I hope.

I cheated and just took down my WordPress blog. I had migrated the content to Drupal some time ago and decided that upgrading WordPress "one more time" just wasn't worth it.
ReplyDeleteI replaced my old http://davenjudy.org/wordpress blog with a link that takes people to my Drupal blog instead. Funny thing is that I'm still getting a bunch of bogus user registrations from people who want to try the WordPress exploit. Especially funny since my most recent article that shows up at the top of the Drupal main page is "This isn't WordPress."
Cheers,
Dave
What is the advantage of a worm in WordPress (to the malguys that is) Do they hijack your blog?
ReplyDeleteSome attackers do seek to take your info. I have a very popular video that was 'scrapped' ( stolen ) and put on a very popular video sharing site. It was monetized and used to promote a porno site. The video had NOTHING to do with porno. It was about a dog giving birth.
ReplyDeleteAttackers also plant malware etc to bring down popular sites.
